Why didn’t you do better in school or your marks are so less?

“Apart from studies I was just involved with other activities and growing up. I always got along with my teachers and classmates, and I even won awards for (perfect attendance/science projects/debate club). The importance of grades did not have an impact on me then. I believe in clarifying the concept and in exams, apart from knowledge some others factors plays a very important role like writing speed and hand writing. Today I am sitting in front of you because of my clear concept and reducing the mistakes that brought low marks.”

What was your favorite subject in college?

“Name those subjects which you know very well. Try to prepare at least two subject of your graduation before going to interview.”

Did your grade/marks average reflect your work ability?

“My grades were above average to excellent, and I think my work record has been the same. There is a different method of evaluation in school, of course, and I’ve worked harder on the job than I did in school. At work, it is results that count, and I have always been able to achieve results. It’s not just what you know, but what you do with what you know. Infrastructure: This is the most important factor while choosing a college Infrastructuredoes not means good looking building only. It means that whether a college has sufficient amount of infrastructure according to it’s intake capacity. It include classroom, administrative building, workshop, computer labs, various laboratories etc. Because during your four year of graduation you need all these things, so keep it your first preference while choosing a college.
Faculty: Having a good infrastructure is not enough only. After having a sufficient infrastructure it is the faculty that make it useful, otherwise it will be a school without a teacher. Always have a look on college faculty which include Professors, reader, lecturer, teacher-student ratio, visiting faculty, teaching experience etc.

Facilities: This is another important factor that you have to keep in mind.Facilities provided by college assist you during your college period.It include Library, Internet, intranet, hostels, seminar halls, dispensary, student clubs, gym etc.

Placements:This is the most important factor while deciding a college. It not mean that it is the first and last criteria to choose a college. Location: This factor does not play a very important role but if it is nearby any industrial or software hub then it may be slightly useful to you as far as your industrial training and placement is concerned but keep this factor at last.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country by the GATE Committee comprising faculty from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

WHAT IS NEW IN GATE 2012?

Application Process:

In GATE 2012, candidates need to register and fill the application ONLINE only by accessing the zonal GATE websites of IISc and seven IITs. The application process is complete only when a print out of the filled ONLINE application with the candidate’s signature and a good quality photo affixed in the appropriate place is received by the respective GATE office along with necessary documents, if any, on or before 24 October 2011. Please note that sale of application forms through banks and GATE office counters has been discontinued.

Downloadable Admit Card:

Sending Admit cards by post has been discontinued from this year. Admit cards can only be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites from 2nd January 2012. Bring the admit card to the test center along with at least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification.

ONLINE examination in two additional papers:

In GATE 2011, the papers with codes GG, TF, AE and MN had ONLINE examination. In GATE 2012, two additional papers, AR and AG, will also have ONLINE examination. The ONLINE examination will be conducted in two sessions on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

Forenoon session (09:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs): AR, GG and TF.

Afternoon session (14:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs): AE, AG and MN.

Numerical answer type questions in ONLINE papers:

In the ONLINE papers (AE, AG, AR, GG, MN and TF), the question paper will consist of questions of multiple choice type and questions of numerical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, each question will have four choices for the answer. For numerical answer type questions, each question will have a number as the answer. The number of numerical answer type questions may vary between 5 and 10 in each question paper.

Pre-final year students:

Pre-final year students are not eligible to write GATE 2012. For details, refer to eligibility for GATE examination.

Google has disabled google toolbars for Mozilla Firefox versions greater than 4. Hence, its not possible to directly install the toolbar on Mozilla Firefox. There is a technique for doing this though. Follow below steps to enable google toolbar on Firefox:

(1) First of all, download google toolbar from Google’s website (obviously ) If you are already using it on Internet Explorer though, there is no need of doing so.

(2) Download the latest version of firefox from its official website.

(3) Now, once you have downloaded the firefox, go to C:\Users\[your user name here]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[sometext].default for windows 7 and C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name here]\Application Data\Mozilla for windows XP.

(4) Now, in the search option, type install.rdf and open the file with word pad. Select the install file from 3 to 4 files that may come out of search result which has the following sentence: “Google toolbar for Firefox” . Now, in the file, change max version for toolbar to 10 from the existing 4 as shown below:

(5) Close Firefox completely and restart. Bingo! the toolbar will be present!
